Building Hope & Home

“How do you fit all those kids in one space?” It’s a question we hear all the time, and the truth is… we need more room! That’s why we’re thrilled to share some HUGE news: we’re building a brand-new Children’s Village!

This new campus will feature thoughtfully designed modular homes for the children, living quarters for caregivers, dedicated spaces for returning graduates, and community program headquarters. It’s a bold step toward creating a nurturing, sustainable, and safe space for our growing family and operations.

Breaking Ground on a Dream

We celebrated the beginning of this exciting journey with a groundbreaking ceremony alongside the Kopila Valley community. Our architect, engineer, and contractors mapped out the campus with string, marking where each building will rise.

The day was filled with love and hope. The children wrote heartfelt letters for a time capsule, adding cherished keepsakes from our current home – rocks, jewelry, candies, and even old photographs. Some of the younger kids sang a song for us. Together, we held a beautiful puja ceremony to honor this monumental occasion.

Now, the real work begins. We can’t wait to share the progress with you every step of the way!

Why This New Home Matters

As we’ve invested in our community, more children with nowhere else to turn have come into our care. Each time our local government and caring staff have identified a need, our generous kids make room – shifting beds, squeezing tighter, and welcoming new members to our family. But now, we’re bursting at the seams.

We also face unique challenges here in Nepal. With hundreds of earthquakes each year, building a safe, resilient home is essential. Our new Children’s Village will feature earthquake-resistant, environmentally sustainable construction – ensuring safety for years to come while aligning with our commitment to protecting the planet.

You may remember that we used rammed earth walls for building our green school campus. To bring this NEW campus vision to life, we’re using compressed earth bricks crafted by women trained at our Kopila Valley Women’s Center. This not only strengthens the local economy but also provides vital income for families. It’s a home built by and for our community.

How You Can Be Part of This Journey

Together, we’ve raised nearly 90 children so far! Today, 50 live in the Kopila Valley Children’s Home, and nearly 40 graduates are thriving as independent young adults – often coming home during holidays to share meals and memories.

Follow along on this incredible journey – we’ll be sharing construction updates on social media and in our newsletter.

Thank you for being part of our global family and this exciting new chapter. Together, we’re building a future full of hope, resilience, and love.
