A girl with long braided hair, tied with yellow ribbons, smiles in front of a colorful, splattered paint background. She is wearing a navy blue sweater with a yellow collar and a school emblem.

Whenever I got in trouble as a child.

“I always rushed to find my grandfather. He was always there, sitting in an old chair. I would then run to him and sit down at his feet. He knew that it meant I was in trouble. But he would smile while we waited for my angry mom or dad to confront me. I knew my grandfather would always defend me, and he never let me down. As years passed, I became stronger while my grandpa grew weaker. So I spent lots of time taking care of him, tending to his needs, and nursing his health. This experience got me interested in the nursing profession. I’m a third-year nursing student now, and I’ve already spent lots of hours in a hospital for practical sessions. The practicals also gave me a chance to work alongside real nurses and learn from them. I found all of them to be very caring, compassionate, and sincere towards their profession. When I become a nurse one day, that is the ethics I will strive to foster. I’m glad to have chosen this study and profession. My grandfather died last year. We’ll observe his first death anniversary in a few days. But working as a nurse will always remind me of him. He’ll live on through my profession.”
