MEENA: NEW ENTREPRENEUR IN SURKHET
We hope you had a wonderful holiday! Here’s another story of growth from this year, in the video and the letter below.
On my last trip to Surkhet, I met Meena, a woman who enrolled in the Kopila Valley Women’s Center during a time when her husband had inconsistent work and their budding family was struggling to make ends meet.
Meena learned how to stitch pants, dresses, kurtas (traditional Nepali women’s clothing), and even reusable sanitary pads. After graduation, she was able to buy a sewing machine from the Women’s Center at a fraction of its retail price and began working from home.
Her customer base grew, and Meena recently opened up a spacious shop in town! With her earnings, she pays for her family expenses and has even started building a home for them to live in. Meena is one of 459 women to have graduated from the Women’s Center in vocational trainings including the sewing, beauty parlor, electrician, and water filtration trades.
THANK YOU for your investment in women like Meena! If you still wish to give to our GROW WITH US campaign, you can visit our donation link here.
Thank you so much for growing your impact with BlinkNow. Wishing you all the very best for the New Year!
Warmly,
Ruth
