Family Development: Extending Relationships and Impact
In addition to the numerous programs that Kopila Valley runs on our school campus, at the Children’s Home, and at the Women’s Center, even more good work is happening out in our community of Surkhet.
Backpacks
Many children in our community—especially girls—are out of school because they can’t afford the costs. Others are out of school due to family challenges like domestic violence, the loss of parents, or a relative’s disability. They may live in unsafe conditions or take on responsibilities like caregiving or earning money.
This year, we’ve supported 34 children who don’t go to Kopila Valley School with uniforms, shoes, backpacks, stationery, and admission fees to help smooth out their transition back to school. They recently started fresh in the new academic year.
Every child deserves the chance to go to school and dream big for their future. ✨ When you support BlinkNow, you are not only educating the students of Kopila Valley—your impact reaches far and wide in our community.
What does Family Development mean?
As part of our Health and Wellness team, the Family Development staff has been busy meeting with families and asks how they can help overcome barriers to thriving or provide resources. Over the past three months, they’ve visited 80 homes, offering support with food packages, covering enrollment fees for local government schools (for children we can’t accommodate at Kopila), help with medical bills, and counseling.

Ward 1 Community Center
The Family Development team also leads classes at our Ward 1 Community Center on adult literacy, group counseling, self-care, and gender-based violence. These services help families who live too far away — or face other barriers — to join our programs at Kopila, making sure they still feel supported and connected.
