Hi Bhawana! What are you doing and where are you right now?

I am in Surkhet, where my hometown is. I am studying Computer Engineering in the Graduate School Of Engineering.

Why did you want to study Computer Engineering?

I was always fascinated with computers from a very young age. It might have been because, in the past, owning a computer always seemed a far-fetched idea for me. I would always look forward to my computer classes, and I enjoyed everything I got to learn. And I knew for a fact that this sector would help me pursue a career that really makes a difference.

What’s your favorite thing about Computer Engineering?

I like the fact that Computer Engineering is about much more than programming. It is about inventing and building solutions. It has a vast potential for innovation and creativity in this field. And I especially like the thought that computer engineers have the opportunity to make a significant impact on society by developing innovative technologies that improve people’s lives and contribute to the advancement of civilization.

What do you find yourself doing in your spare time these days?

I am an athletic person. During my school days in Kopila Valley, I was a member of the girls Football team. We used to participate in national and regional Football competitions and almost always bring the trophy home. Ever since then, Football is something I have not let go of. Apart from this, I love spending time with my sister, dancing, and listening to music.

What inspires you in life?

“Be someone that no one thought you could be,” is something I tell myself repeatedly every day. Personal growth inspires me in life.

What do you look forward to in life?

My lifelong goal is to help street dogs and elderly people.  I really look forward to doing more of that and getting my Computer Engineering degree.

Knowing what you know about your life and your future, what would you say to your 15- year- old- self?

I would say, “Dream big and know that nothing will stop you if you believe in yourself. Nothing is impossible; Everything is possible.”

Finally, is there anything you want to say to younger generations with aspirations and ambitions?

There were moments in the past which I later regretted, but now I look back and understand that those years weren’t wasted at all. In fact, I’d do them again in a heartbeat. Life is a journey and not a destination. Don’t rush, enjoy what you can and while you can.

We are thrilled to have one of our very own Kopila Valley School graduates write this guest blogger series and share alumni stories! Anjali Karki graduated in 2019 and is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism along with a journalism career. We can’t wait to see what each of these world-changers does next. Follow us on social media with the series hashtag (#NarrateYourKopilaStory) for more about these young adults and their adventures.
