Kopila Valley School Receives Nepal Digital Education Award for Social Innovation
SURKHET, NEPAL — Kopila Valley School received the Nepal ICT Digital Education Award for Social Innovation (Private Sector) at a national ceremony held on December 19. The award recognizes the school’s leadership in digital education and its commitment to expanding access to learning through technology in rural Nepal.
The award was presented during Nepal’s 10th annual ICT Awards, organized by Living with ICT and ICT Foundation Nepal. The ceremony was attended by senior government leaders, including Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel and Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Anil Kumar Sinha, along with education leaders and ICT professionals from across the country.
The recognition highlights Kopila Valley School’s digital education program, which begins in early primary grades and continues through secondary school. Students learn basic computer skills at a young age and later progress to coding, robotics, programming, and STEM-based projects.
SP Kalaunee, the Country Representative of Kopila Valley’s funding partner BlinkNow, said, “We use ICT to enhance access to learning resources, to support interactive and personalized learning, and to improve teaching efficiency and innovation.”
Technology is used across all subjects to support teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving, while staying connected to local culture, environmental learning, and community needs. For many students, Kopila Valley provides their first access to computers and the internet.
Kopila Valley School’s approach shows how digital education can be inclusive, practical, and community-led. By ensuring equal access for girls, first-generation learners, and students from marginalized communities, the school is preparing young people for future opportunities while strengthening local leadership.
This award recognizes Kopila Valley School as a model for others to follow, proving that strong digital education can be built with vision, care, and local relevance.
