MAYA: An artist’s Journey
Maya was just a baby, barely crawling, when she came to Kopila Valley Children’s Home. It’s a blessing to see her grow into such a beautiful and creative young lady, going out into the world and spreading her spark.

There is a soul who loves to paint,
A passion that makes her feel so great,
She’d pick up brushes every day,
And in her heart, she’d lose her way
With every stroke and every hue,
Her spirit soared, her heart anew
The canvas is her endless space,
Wherever she can make a world of grace
With every color,
She paints dreams and visions,
Hopes and loves,
that only art can bring thereof.

As a child, Maya loved nothing more than picking up a paintbrush and letting her imagination run wild. She would spend hours in her room, creating colorful landscapes and whimsical characters in her artbook. She was a creative mess, made of loud colors.
As Maya grew older, her passion for art only intensified. Currently, she is enrolled in Sirjana College Of Fine Arts in Kathmandu to fulfill her passion. “I love what I am doing right now. I take pottery classes, sketching classes, I spend an ample amount of time staring at heritage sites, I spend my hours in nature and come up with my own interpretation of the world.” Her passion doesn’t end here. For her Bachelor’s Degree, she says she wants to study fashion. We can only imagine how she will paint the world with her astounding creativity.
“The best thing about art is that it is universal – it transcends language, culture and borders. The colors, textures, and shapes in art are like a language that speaks to my soul. I love the freedom of imagination and creativity. There are no rules to coming up with new things. When I paint, I feel alive and free,” Maya rejoices.
She is taking an artist’s journey, and we can’t wait to discover what else she unleashes.
