Happy Earth Month! We celebrate the planet and work to care for it all year long, but Earth Day gives us a special reason to highlight all the accomplishments of our students, staff, and families at Kopila Valley. Made possible by YOU!

In coordination with this year's Planet vs. Plastics theme, here are a few ways the Kopila students are re-using materials and reducing plastic.

  •  The Sustainability Ambassadors club boasts four different working groups, and one is focused especially on waste management. These students share proper sorting practices with their peers and encourage the entire Kopila community to reduce the trash we send to the landfill.

  •  The DIY Club is reusing plastics by making eco-bricks (bottles filled with plastic pieces, to build something new) and bottle cap artwork.

Children sit in a circle and fill plastic bottles with plastic pieces.

  •  Students are making leaf plates to use in place of plastic disposable plates & cutlery.

Students sit on a floor in an outdoor pavillion and work with leaves to make plates.

  •  We've also been making plastic-free brooms from locally-sourced materials!

We are constantly in awe of the creativity of our students and staff. Keep following us on social media for more Earth Day practices we're sharing, and please tell a friend who also loves the earth!
