Healthy teeth in a healthy body

For many students at Kopila Valley, brushing their teeth was not a daily habit before they were admitted to school. A large number of children show up to class with severe dental problems, including pain because of cavities, inflamed gums, or missing teeth, which unfortunately also affects their general health. Many of the students' guardians often can't afford toothbrushes and toothpaste for the whole family. Fortunately, dental hygiene is one of our favorite subjects at Kopila!

Happy Women’s Day!

Happy Women’s Day!

In honor of International Women's Day, our Girls' Club worked hard alongside our Health and Wellness Administrator, Meelan, to organize our 4th annual Race for Equality. The race was initially inspired by our friends at She's the First. Girls' Club spent many hours the week leading up to the race planning the day and recruiting runners. They even visited our new school campus construction site to campaign for the run! More than 200 students and staff signed up to run.

A local pediatrician was talking about a case with me the other day about a three day old child who is suffering from a birth defect. This baby girl was born on February 26, 2017 in a remote village of Surkhet. Her father is 20 and mother is 18.
