Settling In

Tuesday, December 13, 2011

It's good settling back into life here.  The days are so full, it's easy to feel like they're over before they've begun.  As hard and loud and crazy as it can be to have 40 children living in a house, there are so many special moments.  I think I notice them more often after having been away for a while. I appreciate every little thing... the way N says "mommy," and every new word that comes out of his mouth. (I am sort of obsessed!) The girls and how they just want to stay up all night and talk and talk and talk, the questions they ask and the things they observe that make it so obvious they're getting older.  Last night playing 99 (our favorite card game as of late) with the boys was one of the highlights of my week.  They make me laugh and they are just so fun to be around.  I only wish there were more hours in the day to spend with each of them.

Life is good.  Busy and hectic and good.   Let me set the record straight, my children are not perfect (far from it) BUT years ago, I never could have imagined what this place would become.  I could have never dreamed that N would finish the Twilight series, that they'd all be speaking English and reading books on their own, that pretty much all the boys could beat me in a game of chess, or any game for that matter, and that every single one of my children would become a far better dancer than me.  We were dancing and blasting Christmas music tonight and seeing them so happy, moving their bodies and rocking out to the music was just awesome.  They've got the moves.

• We are preparing for our big annual Christmas program.

• Getting the kids into the X-mas spirit.  Julia made a tree and every night we learn a new carol.

• Hopefully drilling a well this week. (fingers crossed everyone!)

• Doing the prep work for 2 additional classrooms another big addition on the school

• Hiring... again!

• Starting to potty train N soon?

It's the same as always, project after project... list after list.

Luckily we have a good solid team of volunteers, staff and teachers!  Lots of smiling happy children.

Lots to be thankful for and lots of love.
