Celebrating Color on Holi!

Sunday, March 04, 2018

Happy Holi from all of us at Kopila! Holi is celebrated as a national holiday all over Nepal. It's a Hindu festival known as the "festival of colors." The tradition on Holi is to play colors - throwing colored powder on family members, friends, neighbors, and even strangers walking in the street! It's one of our favorite festivals because it celebrates love and family and color and all that is good in the world.

Sachyam with the little ones

Every year on Holi, we have a family tradition where we pack up all of our kids on the school bus and take a family trip to the river. It's beautiful there, and it's the perfect spot to have a massive color fight and then wash off in the river. This year, we had a picnic and played soccer and frisbee all afternoon. The older boys in the house formed a pack and chose targets to ambush with color.

Older boys crushed Holi!

The little ones rolled in the sand and splashed in the water. It was the first Holi for some of our little kids who moved into the house within the past year, like K below. Her smile was ear to ear all day.

Sending out love to all of you! You fill our lives with so much color. If you need us, we'll be spending the next few days scrubbing color off our bodies.
