Aussie Friends

We spent yesterday afternoon making music with our two new friends from Australia, Sarah and Tim.  Sarah will be living here in Surkhet for the next 8 months working with a local NGO and doing research on women's rights.  She is studying to be an anthropologist.  She knows a lot about feminism and women's issues and is a fabulous writer.  I'll try to share some of her writing here later. It's been so great having her around and she's learning Nepali so fast.

Tim, her partner is a musician and is visiting for the month. He brought his guitar over yesterday and we had a major JAM session. He even wrote a song about Kopila Valley. Tim is so talented and incredibly gifted with children. He works with aboriginal children in the outback teaching them music. He makes me wish I could play the guitar. Singing is so much more fun with a guitar, isn't it?

Yesterday as Tim and Sarah were leaving they said that they always felt better after visiting our home.  I thought that was funny because we feel the same way when they come to visit! They bring so much joy with them.  I tried to upload the video I took yesterday of them singing "In the Jungle" but my connection is too slow so a photo will have to do. Cheers to our new Aussie friends!
