My Love,

It's your birthday!! You're 8. You are my heart and my joy and your smile makes my day every single day. You're so smart. You make parenting seem easy. You always listen and do the right thing. Your teachers love you. Everyone loves you.

You have been through way too much in your few years and I'm so sorry. I promised you that everything would be okay once you came here and then everything was not okay. I'm sorry ravi isn't here. I would give anything to change that. It's all I think about all day. I went in last night to do final bedtime rounds and I found you in the pink room lying awake staring at the ceiling. I laid there and whispered the happy birthday song trying not to cry and we sang lullabies until you fell asleep and your hair was so clean it smelled like rosemary and lavender and tea tree oil. We finally got your lice out.

This morning you woke up and came running into my room and Tope uncle and I gave you and S matching birthday dresses that Monique auntie brought and your face lit up with your out of this world smile. Sachyam dai got the ice cream cart today and then we went to the new land and picked flowers and tomatoes and milked the cows we did dancing meditation on the roof at sunset- all in your new pink butterfly dress.

You are pure light and goodness. Our family loves you so much. I love you so much. I love holding you and listening to your heartbeat. You are my heartbeat. You make everything better. You are one of the best things that's ever happened.

Forever and always,

Mommy
