Love Letter #25 (50 Love Letters)

Dear K,
We were sitting in the purple room the other day when you told me you wanted to study nursing. I asked you why and you told me you wanted to be like Florence Nightingale. I had a flash back to when you were 11 and so badly wanted to go to school. You had to start at the very beginning in kindergarten. I'd find you alone in your room studying and studying and studying, quietly on your own, working hard to make up for all those lost hours. I wanted you to play and be a kid like all the rest of your brothers and sisters but you never wanted to play. I was scared you'd missed out on so much of your childhood that you didn't know how to be a kid. But you came out of your shell in your own way and time.

You're an introvert. Quiet, unless we're one on one or in a small group. You're at your happiest when you have your headphones in, listening to Nepali music and reading a book or sitting quietly on the roof. You often seem to be deep in thought. I love when you sing. Your voice is so beautiful it always gives me goosebumps. I would describe you as elegant and full of grace. Many of your brothers and sisters like to wear jeans and t-shirts but you've always stuck to pure Nepali attire. You choose the most beautiful kurtas and wear them with scarves and have a beautiful sense of style.

I can't believe you're gearing up for nursing school. Nurses run in my family. It made me so proud that you are interested in a profession that cares for others. You've always been such a calming presence for me. Whenever you can tell I'm worried, you always say, "Don't worry, everything is going to be okay," and it's always comforting the way you say it.
I love you so much beautiful girl! Love you more than words. No matter where you go, or what you do, I'm always here.
